What is Seroflo Rotacap?
Seroflo Rotacap contains fine dry powdered medicine in a capsule which is meant to be inhaled using a rotahaler. It contains a combination of Salmeterol and Fluticasone. It is used to dilate constricted airways which occur in bronchoconstrictive diseases like asthma, COPD and exercise-induced asthma.
Class and Mechanism of Action
Salmeterol is a bronchodilator belonging to the group of beta2-adrenergic agonists. It stimulates an enzyme called intracellular adenyl cyclase which increases the conversion of cyclic AMP. Increased cAMP inhibits the mast cell mediators thus reducing inflammation. It relaxes the smooth muscles in the bronchial wall and allows dilation of the air passages.
Fluticasone is a corticosteroid and inhibits the inflammatory reaction by blocking the synthesis and release of inflammatory substances.
