Description

Epivir HBV 100 Mg

What is this drug?

Epivir is an anti-viral which is specifically used to treat Hepatitis B infection and sometimes HIV. It is not to be used as the first line of treatment because resistance to this drug is very common. It is to be used only when other options are not working.

Classification and Mechanism of Action

Epivir contains Lamivudine as the main ingredient which is an antiviral belonging to the class of nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. It acts by inhibiting the RNA synthesis of the virus thereby impeding its replication and growth. It reduces the viral load on the liver and allows it to heal.
