Description

This medicine contains 100 mg of the active ingredient tocopherol which is a chemical compound of vitamin E. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that prevents the oxidation of important cell structure. It binds to the active harmful substances such as free radicals, and it protects cells from damage and preserves their functional ability. This medicine is used:

  • for the prevention and treatment of vitamin E deficiency;
  • in conditions of increased need for vitamin E, such as: increased exposure to stress and physical exhaustion.

Is Tocopherol suitable for me?

Tocopherol is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to tocopherol or to any of the other ingredients in this medicine

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

  • are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breast-feeding
  • are taking iron, vitamin K or anticoagulants (medicines that prevent blood clotting)
  • have a blockage of the bile ducts
  • suffer from diabetes
  • this medicine is not recommended for children under 14 years

Tocopherol interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Tocopherol?

This medicine is available in form of a tablet.

You should take tocopherol exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.

  • The usual dose for adults and adolescents over 14 years is 2-3 tablets per day during a meal or after it.
  • The tablet can be dissolved in the mouth or swallow with a glass of water.  

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Also, this medicine works best if there is a constant amount in the blood. To help keep this amount constant, do not miss any doses and take the medicine at the same time each day. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose.

What are Tocopherol side effects?

Like all medicines tocopherol can cause side effects, including:

  • gastrointestinal problems
  • nausea and bloating
  • hypersensitivity (rash, pruritus)
