Description

What is Flibanserin (Generic Addyi)?

Flibanserin (Generic Addyi) is a medication prescribed to women who are premenopausal and are having HSDD- hypoactive sexual desire disorder. It is an acquired and generalised loss of libido without the existence of any other medical or psychiatric problems.

Classification and Mechanism of Action

Generic Addyi (Flibanserin) is a serotonin- 5-HT receptor agonist and it shows its action on 5HT – 1A and 5HT – 2A neurochemicals. Its exact mode of action is not known, but it is stipulated that it increases the dopamine and epinephrine in the prefrontal cortex and decreases the serotonin. This controls the brain’s feel good mechanism and enhances the sexual desire.
