Diane 35 (Cyproterone Acetate/Ethinyloestradiol) is a broad spectrum oral contraceptive pill. Along with its main function of protection against unwanted pregnancy, it is also used to treat skin conditions like acne, oily, and hairy skin. It is gender specific drug and used by females only.
Classification and Mechanism of Action
It contains synthetic female hormones to treat the conditions occurred by deficiency of the same. The drug is a combination of two active ingredients i.e, Cyproterone Acetate and Ethinyloestradiol. The ingredients provide two hormones that are known as oestrogen and progesterone. These hormones are naturally produced by the females’ reproductive system and lack of these may be observed in terms of acne and hairy skin. It is also used to treat PCOS resulting in irregular periods.
How to take the medication
The tablet should be taken with some liquid such as juice or water.
It is recommended to take one tablet daily with some liquid to utilize the contraceptive properties. For treating acne and other skin conditions, follow the instructions of your dermatologist.
Regular overdose may cause adverse results, including breast cancer and cervical cancer due to increased level of estrogen in female’s body. If you have mistakenly taken more tablets, immediately consult with your doctor.
