Description

This medicine contains the active ingredient hypromellose, which belongs to a group of medicines called artificial tears. These medicines reduce the dryness and irritation of the eyes when there is no sufficient natural tear production. This medicine is used for the treatment of dry eye syndrome and reduced tearing, inflammation of the cornea and dry inflammation of conjunctiva accompanied by the inflammation of the cornea. This medicine may also be used to moisten hard contact lenses and artificial eyes.

Is Hypromellose suitable for me?

Hypromellose is not suitable for everyone. Do not use it

  • if you are allergic to hypromellose or to other ingredients of this medicine

In particular, you must tell the doctor if you:

  • are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding
  • wear soft contact lenses

Hypromellose interacts with other medicines. It is most important that you tell the doctor all the medications and herbal supplements that you are currently taking.

How should I take Hypromellose?

This medicine is available in form of eye drops.

You should take hypromellose exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist.

  • The usual dose for this medicine is one or two drops three or four times a day.

Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, or do not use it for a longer time than your doctor instructed. Do not take two doses together if you miss a dose.

What are Hypromellose side effects?

Like all medicines hypromellose can cause side effects, including:

  • blurred vision
  • eye pain
  • foreign body sensation in eyes
  • eye irritation
  • redness
  • cloudy patches on the cornea
