What is this drug?

Asthalin HFA Inhaler 200MD is prescribed to treat bronchospasm which occurs in diseases like asthma, COPD, bronchitis and even in exercise related bronchospasm. It contains medicine in aerosol form and has an immediate effect when administered.

Classification and Mechanism of Action

Asthalin HFA Inhaler 200MD contains Salbutamol as the active medicine. It is a bronchodilator belonging to the class of B-adrenergic receptor blocker. It has a direct action on the sympathetic supply to the smooth muscles of the airway. It also acts on the B2 receptors in the airway. Both its activity causes relaxation of the smooth muscles which relieves bronchospasm.

Looking after your drug

Store it in a cool and dry place away from the reach of children. Keep it capped.

How to take Asthalin HFA Inhaler 200MD?

Insert the mouthpiece in the mouth. Seal your lips around it. Depress to release medicine. Inhale deeply. Do not exhale into the inhaler. Take inhaler on an empty stomach.

Dosage

1-2 puffs 3 to 4 times in a day.

Overdose

Consult your doctor right away.

Missed Dose

If it is time for your next dose then skip the missed dose or else take it as soon as you remember. Do not double dose.

Warnings and Precautions

Use with caution in pregnancy, mild to moderate pre-eclampsia, mild to moderate cardiac disease

Possible Side Effects

·       Paradoxical bronchospasm

·       Palpitations, Tachycardia,

·       Muscle cramps, headache

·       Angioedema

·       Hypotension, fainting

When Asthalin HFA Inhaler 200MD should not be used?

Severe pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, complicated pregnancy, severe cardiac disease, allergy to the medicine

How long should you take the drug?

As long as prescribed.
