What is Tibofem 2.5Mg

Tibofem contains Tibolone as the active ingredient which is prescribed in post-menopausal women for hormone replacement therapy. It mimics the naturally occurring female hormones and alleviates menopausal symptoms including osteoporosis.

Classification and Mechanism of Action

Tibofem is a synthetic steroid hormone and is disintegrated in the body into three components that are similar to estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. When absorbed the estrogenic effect is on the bones, vagina and breast; the progesterone-like effect is on the uterine wall; and the testosterone-like effect on the brain and the liver. It helps restore hormonal balance.

How to take Tibofem 2.5Mg?

Take it orally with or without food preferably at the same time each day.

Dosage

Recommended dose is 2.5 mg once in a day.

Overdose

Consult your doctor right away.

Missed Dose

If it is time for your next dose then skip the missed dose or else take it as soon as you remember. Do not double dose.

Warnings and Precautions

Contraindicated in cases of undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, breast cancer, liver disorder and hypersensitivity to the drug.

• Myalgia
• Vaginal bleeding or discharge
• Increased risk of breast cancer

When Tibofem 2.5Mg should not be used?

Not to be used in cases of previous or present breast cancer, heart disease, liver disease, blood clotting disorders, or if you are allergic to tibolone.

How long should you take Tibofem 2.5Mg?

As long as prescribed. Maximum duration is 6 months.
