What is this drug?

Cerazette is a progesterone only contraceptive pill. It is prescribed to stop women from getting pregnant. It is safe to use in women who are breastfeeding and who are unable to tolerate estrogen.

Classification and Mechanism of Action

Cerazette is a progesterone only contraceptive which contains Desogestrel as the active drug. It is a synthetic progesterone hormone. It prevents conception by hindering the movement of the sperm and stops it from reaching the womb. It also prevents the release of an egg from the ovary.

Looking after your drug

Store it in its pack away from light and moisture. Use it within a month after opening the pack.

How to take Cerazette?

Take it orally with a glass of water at the same time each day.

Dosage

Take one tablet everyday. Follow the instructions on the pack to the letter while taking this medicine.

Overdose

Consult your doctor right away.

Missed Dose

Take it as soon as you remember and continue from the next dose onwards. If you missed more than two doses then you need to consult your doctor as there is a chance of a conception.

Warnings and Precautions

Do not take this start this drug if you suspect a pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you are susceptible to cancers, have a coagulation problems, epilepsy, TB, or high B.P.
