What is Ginette 35?
Ginette is a combination of two hormones and is used in women for treating androgenic problems and for contraception. This medicine treats problems of excess androgenic hormone in females like hirsutism, severe acne, and hair loss (androgenic).
Class and Mechanism of Action
Ginette contains Ethinyloestradiol which is an estrogenic hormone and Cyproterone acetate which an anti-androgenic progestogen. Androgen is a male hormone which is produced in small amounts in women. When the production of this hormone becomes in excess it leads to androgenisation. Ginette blocks the production of this hormone in ovaries and binds to its receptors thereby inhibiting its androgenic actions on skin, hair and muscles. It also provides contraception by inhibiting the process of ovulation.
