What is this drug?

Differin gel is an anti-acne medicine which is used to treat acne or pimples on face, back and chest.  It also removes black and white heads and clears pores. It is effective against acne cysts which are deep and painful.

Classification and Mechanism of Action

Differin gel contains Adapalene which is a retinoid. It binds to the retinoid receptors in the skin and penetrates the pores. It prevents collection of dead skin cells and sebum thus preventing the clogging of the pores. It also blocks the WBCs from reaching the site thereby reducing inflammation.
