Rizact 5 Mg & 10 Mg (Rizatriptan)

What is this drug?

Rizact contains the drug Rizatriptan which is prescribed to treat migraine attack with or without aura. It is also used to treat nausea, vomiting and light sensitivity associated with a migraine. It is not used for prevention of a migraine but to treat the symptoms after the attack.

Classification and Mechanism of Action

Rizatriptan is a selective serotonin agonist. A migraine is caused due to widening or constriction of blood vessels in the brain. Rizact mimics the action of serotonin and stimulates the serotonin receptors in the vessels causing them to constrict or expand and that relieves pain.

Looking after Rizact

Keep it in its pack. Store it below 25⁰C away from light and moisture.

How to take the medication?

Take it orally with a full glass of water, with or without food. Take it as soon as the symptoms arise.

Dosage

Take as per your doctor has prescribed. Do not repeat dose before 2 hours. Maximum dose in a day is 30 mg.

Overdose

Contact your doctor immediately.

Missed Dose

It is taken as per the need. Missed dose is not likely.

Warnings and Precautions

It reacts with certain medications. Consult your doctor before starting this drug. Do not repeat dose before two hours of the first dose.

Possible Side Effects

• GI upset
• Dizziness while getting up
• Numbness in fingers or tingling sensations
• Shakes or tremors
• Dry mouth

When Rizact 10 Mg should not be used?

Do not use in normal or cluster headaches. If you are allergic to the drug.

How long should you take Rizact 10 Mg?

As long as prescribed.
