What is Viprofina 1 & 5 ?

Viprofina reduces the size of the prostate in males and thus is prescribed for Benign Prostate Hyperplasia or an enlarged prostate. It relieves difficulty in urination, improves the flow of urine, and decreases the frequent urge and night-time frequency. It can be used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat BPH.

Class and Mechanism of Action

Viprofina or Finasteride is a 5-alpha DHT inhibitor. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a hormone which is synthesized from testosterone. DHT is responsible for the enlargement of the prostate. Viprofina blocks its conversion thereby lowering its levels and treating the enlarged prostate.

Store it in a cool and dry place away from the reach of children.

How to take the medication?

Take it orally with or without food preferably at the same time each day.

Dosage

The usual recommended dose is 5mg once in a day. Consult your doctor for your prescription.

Overdose

Consult your doctor right away.

Missed Dose

If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose or else take it as soon as you remember. Do not double dose.

Warnings and Precautions

Use with caution in liver ailments. The medicine can be absorbed through skin. Women and children should not handle the medicine; especially pregnant women.

Possible Side Effects

• Decreased sex drive
• Reduced semen production
• Impotence
• Pain in testicles
• Breast enlargement, tenderness or discharge from nipples

When should Viprofina 1 & 5 not be used?

Pregnant women, children, severe hepatic disease, hypersensitivity to the medicine

How long should you take Viprofina 1 & 5 ?

As long as prescribed.
