About Proscalpin

Proscalpin is commonly used for the treatment of hair fall in men. It is specifically recommended for the management of male pattern baldness associated with the imbalance of hormones in the body.

The primary ingredient of this medication is Finasteride, which works by lowering the DHT levels. It induces inhibition of the conversion of the male sex hormone, testosterone, into DHT. This helps to control hair loss and also promote the growth of new hair.

When is Proscalpin prescribed?

Proscalpin is prescribed for the management of male pattern baldness. It can also be used to treat benign enlargement of the prostate. The signs and symptoms of this disorder are linked to the pressure caused by the enlarged prostate gland on the urethra resulting in the obstruction to the flow of urine. Proscalpin, by reducing the prostate enlargement, helps to relieve the symptoms such as incomplete emptying of the bladder and dribbling of urine.

It reduces hair fall by blocking DHT, which is a derivative of the male sex hormone, testosterone. DHT is known to cause severe damage to the hair follicles due to which they are unable to survive. It can also cause a destruction of the hair follicles specifically present in the scalp due to which men experience hair fall. DHT also shrinks the hair follicles, thus preventing the growth of healthy hair. If not controlled, it can lead to baldness. A regular use of Proscalpin can block DHT thus restoring the strength of the hair follicles thereby preventing hair loss.

How to use Proscalpin?

The usual prescribed dose of Proscalpin is 1 tablet a day. Patients may find a noticeable improvement in the symptoms of benign prostatic enlargement and hair fall after a prolonged use of this medicine. Hence, they are advised to continue the use of Proscalpin for a longer duration. Men are advised to contact a physician to learn more about the appropriate dosage based on their symptoms.

What are the side effects of Proscalpin?

The common side effects of Proscalpin include a reduced sexual desire, pain in the breasts, painful erections, and erectile dysfunctions.
