What is this drug?

Zestril  is prescribed to treat high blood pressure. It is also given to prevent congestive heart failure associated with high blood pressure and to improve the chances of cardiac survival after an attack.

Classification and Mechanism of Action

Zestril 20 mg contains Lisinopril which is an ACE inhibitor. It inhibits the Angiotensin converting enzyme which is required for conversion of Angiotensin I (AT I) to Angiotensin II (AT II). AT II has a vaso-constrictive effect on the blood vessels and regulates blood pressure. Inhibition of ACE relaxes blood vessels and reduces B.P.

How to take Zestril 20 mg?

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.

The initial recommended dose is 10 mg once a day. Then it requires titration as per individual needs. Consult your doctor.

If it is time for your next dose then skip the missed dose or else take it as soon as you remember. Do not double dose.

Warnings and Precautions
