Why is this medication prescribed?
Lipitor is used with diet changes to reduce the amount of cholesterol and certain
fatty substances in the blood. It works by blocking an enzyme
in the body that is needed to produce cholesterol.
How should this medicine be used?
Mostly, you need to take one tablet daily . Your doctor may perform a simple
blood test to determine the correct dosage for your needs. You
should only use Lipitor as directed by your doctor. Do not take
more or less than your prescribed dose.
What side effects can this medication cause?

are considered to be rare. However, some of the
side effects you may experience include:
- blurred vision
- dizziness
- skin rash
- stomach pain
- diarrhea
- constipation
- heartburn
- headache
- flatulence
What special precautions should I follow?- Consult your doctor if you have a history of alcohol
abuse, liver disease, electrolyte and metabolic disorders or low
blood pressure.

Avoid taking any atorvastatin medications with large amounts of
grapefruit juice or products as this increases the concentration of
the medication in the body.

Tell
your doctor if you are currently taking any of the following medications:
,antacids
,anti fungal medications
,ketoconazole (Nizoral)
,digoxin (Lanoxin)
,erythromycin
,immune system suppressants
,oral contraceptive pills
,vitamin supplements
,other cholesterol lowering medicines

You must not use Lipitor if you are pregnant or think you
might be pregnant. Lipitor may harm the fetus.
