Why is this medication prescribed?
Indocap (Generic Indocin) is used for the treatment of rheumatoid
arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and pain
associated with menstrual periods.
Indocap (Generic Indocin) is a non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory medication.
It works by blocking enzymes
that create prostaglandin. decreasing levels of prostaglandin are
know to reduce swelling and pain in the affected area.
How should this medicine be used? Mostly, 25mg to 200mg daily in
an even distribution of dosages. However, you sholud consult your doctor for more
precise instructions when taking Indocap (Generic Indocin).
What side effects can this medication cause? It is considered rare
for side effects to occur when taking Indocap (Generic Indocin). If you experience
side effects they are most likely to include:
- upset stomach
- constipation
- stomach pain or cramps
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- headache
- feeling dizzy
- nervousness
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your
doctor immediately:
- bloody diarrhea
- bloody vomit
- ringing in the ears
- swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, lower legs
- skin rash
What special precautions should I follow?
- Tell your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney
disease.
- Tell your doctor if you have a history of gastric
ulcers or other stomach complaints .
- Combining Indocap (Generic Indocin) with other medications may cause serious side effects.
In particular, if you are currently taking
anti-coagulant medicines such as aspirin, warfarin, carteolol and atenolol .
- You should tell you
doctor if you are currently taking other arthritis or diabetes
medicines.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are
breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Indocap (Generic Indocin), call
your doctor.
