Why is this medication prescribed? Generic Singulair is used to control asthma symptoms on a long-term
basis. It works by blocking leukotrienes, which improves asthma symptoms.
How should this medicine be used? Generic Singulair
should be taken once a day, in the evening as prescribed.
You may take Generic Singulair with food or
without food.
What side effects can this medication cause? The most common
side effects with Generic Singulair include: - stomach pain
- stomach or
intestinal upset
- heartburn
- tiredness
- fever
- stuffy nose
- cough

flu
- upper
- respiratory infection
- dizziness
- headache
- rash.
Less
common side effects that have happened with Generic Singulair include:
- agitation including aggressive behavior
- allergic reactions
(including swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat, which
may cause trouble breathing or swallowing)
- hives
- itching

bad/vivid dreams
- increased bleeding tendency
- bruising
- diarrhoea

hallucinations
- indigestion
-
inflammation of the pancreas
- irritability
- joint pain
- muscle aches
and muscle cramps
- nausea
- palpitations
- restlessness, seizures
(convulsions or fits), swelling, trouble sleeping, and vomiting.
What special precautions should I follow?
Ask your doctor before taking Generic Singulair,
if you are allergic to Generic Singulair or any other drugs.
- tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the
medications you are taking
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever had difficulty urinating
(an enlarged prostate), epilepsy (seizures), glaucoma, ulcers, asthma
or lung disease, high blood pressure, or heart/liver disease.
- before giving Generic Singulair to a child, tell the doctor if you have a family history of sudden infant death syndrome
(crib death) or if you regularly have difficulty waking the child.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or
are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Generic Singulair, call
your doctor.
- Alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug.
- Cigarette smoking may
decrease the effectiveness of this drug.
- if you are having surgery, tell the doctor
you are taking Generic Singulair.
- Don't drive a car until you know how Generic Singulair affects
you. It may make you drowsy.
