Why is this medication prescribed?
Retino-A (Dermairol) cream is used to treat a variety of skin conditions ranging acne and skin
discoloration to removing fine lines and wrinkles. It works by
promoting blood supply closer to the skin surface that increase the
shedding older skin cells for replacement by newer skin cells
making skin appear more youthful.
How should this medicine be used?
Retino-A (Dermairol) is used once a day at bedtime or once every 2 days. Follow the
directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor
to explain any part you do not understand. Use Retino-A (Dermairol) exactly as
directed. Do not use more or less than prescribed by
your doctor.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Although side effects from Retino-A (Dermairol) are rare, they can
occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- warmth of the skin
- blistering, swelling, lightening, darkening of the skin
- red skin
- increase in acne
What special precautions should I follow?
- If you have a
history skin conditions (eczema), use caution when applying Retino-A (Dermairol).
- Avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight and wear
sunglasses, protective clothing, and apply sunscreen. Retino-A (Dermairol) may make your skin
sensitive to sunlight.
- Do not use Retino-A (Dermairol) on sunburnt skin.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are
if you breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while using Retino-A (Dermairol), call your
doctor.
