Why is this medication prescribed?
Generic Advair (Seroflo)
is used to prevent shortness of breath, wheezing and breathing difficulties caused by asthma.
Generic Advair (Seroflo) works by reducing the swelling (Fluticasone) in the airways and by relaxing and opening air passages (Salmeterol) in the lungs, making it more easy to breathe.
How should this medicine be used?
Generic Advair (Seroflo) is used twice a day, in the morning and evening, every 12 hours. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor to explain any part you do not understand.
Use Generic Advair (Seroflo) exactly as directed. Do not use more or less than prescribed by your doctor.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Fluticasone and salmeterol may cause side effects. Tell your
doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- headache
- sinus pain
- cough
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- runny nose
- sneezing
- sore throat
- hoarseness
- stomach pain
- muscle/bone pain
- throat/nose irritation
The following symptoms are
uncommon, but if you experience any of them, you should call your doctor immediately:
- choking or difficulty swallowing
- increased difficulty breathing
- noisy, high-pitched breathing
- pounding or fast heartbeat
- shaking hands
- hives
- skin rash
- swelling of the face/throat/tongue/lips
- fever
- chest pain
- chills
- nervousness
- blurred vision
- white patches in the mouth
Fluticasone and salmeterol may cause children to grow more
slowly. If your child is using fluticasone and salmeterol and does not seem to
be growing properly, talk to your child's doctor.
What special precautions should I follow?
You need to be sure your doctor knows what other medicines you are
taking. Talk to your
doctor if :
1. you are pregnant or likely to become pregnant soon
2.you are breast-feeding.
3. You are having treatment for a thyroid condition/heart problem/high blood pressure
4. You are allergic to
Flixotide or fluticasone propionate.
5. You are allergic to fluticasone, salmeterol, or any other medications, or milk protein.
6. You being or ever been treated for
tuberculosis (TB).
7. You are having surgery, tell your doctor that you are using fluticasone and salmeterol.
.
8. You are taking ritonavir, used in the treatment of HIV
(AIDS) .
Do not use Generic Advair (Seroflo)
if the packaging is torn or shows signs of tampering.
