Why is this medication prescribed?
Zyrtec is used to treat symptoms of hives, including itching and rash relieve symptoms of hay fever, seasonal
allergy, and other allergies like : animal dander, dust mites, and
molds. It is also help to relieve sneezing; runny nose; and red, itchy, tearing eyes.
Zyrtec is in a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking histamine, a
substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.
How should this medicine be used?
Take Zyrtec allergy
medication by mouth once a day. Take each dose of with a full glass
of water. It may be taken with or without food.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Side effects that may occur include:
- drowsiness
- dry mouth
- agitation
- headache
- Occasionally, symptoms of hypersensitivity have been
reported.
What special precautions should I follow?
Before taking Zyrtec,
- tell your doctor and pharmacist about all medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are
taking.
