Why is this medication prescribed?
Zinetac (Generic Zantac) is used to treat ulcers symptoms; gastroesophageal reflux
disease (GERD); and conditions where
the stomach is producing too much acid, like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Zinetac (Generic Zantac) is also used to prevent and treat symptoms of heartburn
associated with sour stomach and acid indigestion. Zinetac (Generic Zantac) decreases the amount of acid made
in the stomach. Zinetac (Generic Zantac) is in a class of
medications called H2 blockers.
How should this medicine be used?
Take Zinetac (Generic Zantac) exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Be sure that you follow the diet your doctor recommends.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Side effects may include:
- stomach pain
- constipation
- diarrhea
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- headache
What special precautions should I follow?
- If you have kidney or liver
disease, this drug should be used with caution.
- Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had porphyria, or phenylketonuria.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are
breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Zinetac (Generic Zantac), call your
doctor.
