Why is this medication prescribed?
Zantac is used to treat ulcers symptoms; gastroesophageal reflux
disease (GERD); and conditions where
the stomach is producing too much acid, like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Zantac is also used to prevent and treat symptoms of heartburn
associated with sour stomach and acid indigestion. Zantac decreases the amount of acid made
in the stomach. Zantac is in a class of
medications called H2 blockers.

What side effects can this medication cause?
Side effects may include:

- constipation
- diarrhea
- upset stomach
- vomiting

What special precautions should I follow?

- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are
breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Zantac, call your
