Why is this medication prescribed?
Suminat Nasal Spray is for the treatment of
migraine headaches.
How should this medicine be used?
Suminat Nasal Spray
should be taken at the first sign of a migraine headache.
One dose of the spray is usally enough.
you apply it by spraying the medication up one nostril. You
may take a second dose 2 hours after the first if
the symptoms of a migraine persists.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Side effects may include:
- nasal irritation
- tingling sensations
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- stomach pain
- feeling dizzy
If you experience the following you should tell
your doctor immediately :
- rash
- blurred vision
- chest pains
- breath difficulties
- swelling of the face, tongue or neck
What special precautions should I follow?
- Tell your doctor if you are taking any other
medication, especially if you are taking medicines containing:
paroxetine such as Paxil, sertraline such as Zoloft,
fluoxetine such as fluoxetine or Sarafem,
fluvoxamine such as Luvox.
- If you have taken a MAO inhibitor medication such as parnate or
nardil during the past 14 days, don't use Suminat Nasal Spray.

you have a family history of kidney, heart or liver disease,
or suffer from high blood pressure.
- Do not use Suminat Nasal Spray in combination with other migraine
medications.
- Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Suminat Nasal Spray.
- Do not take more than 40mg Sumatriptan in any one 24 hour
period.
