Why is this medication prescribed? Tryptomer (Generic Redomex) is a tricyclic medicine that used to treat insomnia, enuresis
and chronic pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia.
How should this medicine be used? Patients are usually started on a
dose of 5-10mg a day, taken at night to minimise side effects.
This dose is gradually increased up to 50-150mg.
What side effects can this medication cause? The side effects of
Tryptomer (Generic Redomex) include:- dry mouth
- blurred
vision
- constipation
- excessive sweating
- changes in appetite
- drowsiness
- difficultly urinating
- dizziness
- confusion
- weight gain

heart rhythm disturbances
These effects may occur in up to 50% of
patients and elderly patients are at greater risk.
What special precautions should I follow?
Tryptomer (Generic Redomex) is dangerous in overdose.
Before taking Tryptomer (Generic Redomex),
- tell your doctor if you are allergic to amitriptyline (Tryptomer) or
any other medications.
- do not take amitriptyline (Tryptomer) if you are taking monoamine oxidase (MAOI)
inhibitors, including tranylcypromine (Parnate) and phenelzine (Nardil), or
or within 14 days of discontinuing a MAOI.
- tell your doctor about all medications you are taking.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or if you are
breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking amitriptyline (Tryptomer), call your
doctor immediately.
- tell your doctor if you or anyone in your family has or has ever had
liver, kidney, or heart disease.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever had glaucoma; an enlarged prostate; difficulty
urinating; an overactive thyroid gland.
