Why is this medication prescribed?
Naprosyn (Daprox) is used to relieve the inflammation, pain, stiffness,
and tenderness caused by gout, arthritis, and other inflammatory
conditions. Naprosyn (Daprox) also is used to relieve other pain, including: muscle, menstrual pain, childbirth, or dental work.
How should this medicine be used?
Naprosyn (Daprox) should be taken
with food and with a full glass of water to avoid
stomach upset. Avoid taking Naprosyn (Daprox) on an empty stomach. Take it exactly as directed. Do
not take more or less of than prescribed by your
doctor.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Although side effects from Naprosyn (Daprox) are not common, they can
occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- headache
- dizziness
- nervousness
- upset stomach
- stomach pain or cramps
- vomiting
- constipation
- heartburn
- diarrhea
- gas
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your
doctor immediately:
- yellow skin and eyes.
- bloody vomit
- bloody diarrhea or black, tarry stools
- ringing in the ears
- blurred vision
- swelling of hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
- skin rash
- itching
What special precautions should I follow?
It is important to check with your
doctor before combining Naprosyn (Daprox) with the following: ACE inhibitors
such as the blood-pressure drug Aspirin, Zestril, Blood-thinning drugs, Beta blockers such
as the blood-pressure drug Tenormin, Sulfa drugs, Oral diabetes drugs
such as Probenecid (Benemid), Micronase Phenytoin (Dilantin).
