Why is this medication prescribed?
Generic Zovirax is used to treat herpes infections of the skin, lips,
and genitals; herpes zoster (shingles); and chickenpox. It decreases pain and itching and promotes healing.
How should this medicine be used?
Take this medication as directed,
with dosing times spaced evenly throughout the day. Generic Zovirax is best taken with a
full glass of water. This medication
can be taken with or without food.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Common side effects include:
- nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- loss of appetite
- headache
Rare side effects include:
- skin rash
- sore throat
- dizziness
- tingling of the hands/feet
- numbness
Tell your doctor immediately if you
experience one of these side effects.
What special precautions should I follow?
- Don't stop taking Generic Zovirax, it is
important that you complete your course of tablets to effectively
treat an outbreak of herpes.
- Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to Generic Zovirax,
Valtrex, or any other drugs.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are
breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Generic Zovirax, call your
doctor.
