Why is this medication prescribed?
Simvotin (Generic Zocor) is used with diet changes
to reduce the amount of cholesterol and certain
fatty substances in your blood. Accumulation of cholesterol and fats decreases blood flow
therefore, decreases the oxygen supply to your heart, brain, and the rest of your
body. If you lower your blood level of cholesterol and fats it may help you preventing
heart disease, strokes, and heart attacks.
How should this medicine be used?
Usually you should
take onc a day at before going to sleep.
Follow the directions on your prescription label
carefully. Take Simvotin (Generic Zocor) exactly as directed. Do not take more or less than prescribed by your doctor.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Side effects from Simvotin (Generic Zocor) are not common,
Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms do not go
away:
- stomach pain
- constipation
- diarrhea
- headache
- heartburn
- blurred vision
- feeling dizzy
- rash
If you experience the following symptom, tell your doctor
immediately:
What special precautions should I follow?- Consult your doctor if you have a history of alcohol
abuse, liver disease, electrolyte and metabolic disorders or low
blood pressure.

Avoid taking any atorvastatin medications with large amounts of
grapefruit juice or products as this increases the concentration of
the medication in the body.

Tell
your doctor if you are currently taking any of the following medications:
,antacids
,anti fungal medications
,ketoconazole (Nizoral)
,digoxin (Lanoxin)
,erythromycin
,immune system suppressants
,oral contraceptive pills
,vitamin supplements
,other cholesterol lowering medicines

You must not use Simvotin if you are pregnant or think you
might be pregnant. Simvotin may harm the fetus.
