Why is this medication prescribed?
Generic Famvir (Virovir) is used for the treatment of genital herpes or for herpes
zoster virus (shingles). It relieves the symptoms and helps the
affected area to heal faster.
How should this medicine be used?
You are advised to take Generic Famvir (Virovir) as directed
by your doctor. Do not stop
taking Generic Famvir (Virovir) without first consulting your doctor. You can takr it with or without food, if you are taking it with food you can avoid stomach upsets and
nausea.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Tell your doctor if any of these following side effects are severe:
- fatigue
- headache
- dizziness
- diarrhea
- insomnia
- rash
- nausea
- abdominal pain
- fever
What special precautions should I follow?
- Tell your doctor if you have a history of kidney or
liver disease.
- Taking Generic Famvir (Virovir) with other
medications, including homeopathic remedies, may cause unwanted side effects.
- You are advised to tell your doctor or
medical professional if you are taking any other medication,
especially viral infections medications like: theophylline, cimetidine, probenecid and
digoxin.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are
breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Generic Famvir (Virovir) , tell your
