Why is this medication prescribed?
Generic Detrol (Tolterodine) is used to relieve urinary difficulties, such as
inability to control urination and frequent urination.
It works by preventing bladder contraction.
How should this medicine be used?
Tablets are usually taken twice a day.
Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor to explain any part you do not understand.
Take Generic Detrol (Tolterodine) exactly
as directed. Do not take more or less than
prescribed by your doctor.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Although side effects
from Generic Detrol (Tolterodine) are uncommon, you may experience:
- blurred vision
- dry mouth
- dry eyes
- dizziness
- upset stomach
- constipation
- headache
If you experience any of the following side effects, call your
doctor immediately:
- difficulty urinating
- chest pain
- a skin rash
What special precautions should I follow?
Before taking Generic Detrol (Tolterodine),
- Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Generic Detrol (Tolterodine) or any
other drugs.
- Tell your doctor what
medications you are taking, especially: clarithromycin, erythromycin
, fluconazole, itraconazole,
ketoconazole (Nizoral)or any medicines for glaucoma or vitamin
supplements.
- Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver or kidney disease,
glaucoma, or an obstructive gastrointestinal disease.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are
breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Generic Detrol (Tolterodine), call your
doctor.
