Why is this medication prescribed?
Ibuprofen is used to relieve the pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness caused by arthritis and gout. It is also used to reduce fever and to relieve headaches, menstrual pain, muscle aches, aches and pains from the common cold, backache, and pain after surgery or dental work.
Side
Effects Side effects from ibuprofen are not common. Tell your doctor if any of these side effects are severe or do not go away:
- headache
- nervousness
- upset stomach
- diarrhea
- dizziness
- stomach pain
- vomiting
- constipation
If you experience any of the following side effects, call your doctor immediately:
- bloody diarrhea or black, tarry stools
- bloody vomit
- skin rash
- blurred vision
- ringing ears
- swelling of the hands, ankles, feet, or lower legs
What special precautions should I follow? Before taking ibuprofen (Generic Cobo) ,
- If you are taking oral blood thinners or anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) you should avoid ibuprofen because ibuprofen (Generic Cobo) also thins the blood, and excessive blood thinning may lead to bleeding.
- tell your doctor if you are allergic to ibuprofen (Generic Cobo), aspirin or other medications for arthritis, or any other drugs
- tell your doctor about all medications you are taking.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever had heart, liver, or kidney disease; high blood pressure; or any other gastrointestinal disease.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking ibuprofen (Generic Cobo), call your doctor immediately.
- if you are having surgery tell the doctor that you are taking ibuprofen (Generic Cobo).
- ibuprofen (Generic Cobo) may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you.
- You should not drink alcoholic beverages while taking ibuprofen (Generic Cobo).
