Why is this medication prescribed?
Clofert (Generic Clomid) is used to induce ovulation (egg production),
It increase the chance of
pregnancy in women who are having trouble conceiving.
It works similarly to estrogen, a female hormone that causes eggs to
develop in the ovaries and be released.
How should this medicine be used?
It is usually taken once a day for 5 days, starting on the fifth day of the menstrual period. Women
who do not have menstrual cycles can begin taking it on any
convenient day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully,
and ask your doctor to explain any part you do not understand.
Take Clofert (Generic Clomid) exactly as directed. Do not take more or less than prescribed by your doctor.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Clofert (Generic Clomid) may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of
these side effects are severe or do not go away:
- flushing
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- enlargement of the ovaries
- headache
- abnormal vaginal bleeding
- abdominal pain
The following side effects are
uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately:
- blurred vision
- sleeping difficulties
- stomach pain
- hair loss
- weight gain
- shortness of breath
- depression
- hives
- fatigue
- dizziness
What special precautions should I follow?
Before taking Clofert (Generic Clomid),
- Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Clofert (Generic Clomid) or any
other medications.
- Tell your doctor what
medications you are
taking.
- Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had
abnormal
vaginal bleeding, liver disease, uterine fibroids, a pituitary tumor, adrenal disease or thyroid or ovarian cysts.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. If you become
pregnant while taking Clofert (Generic Clomid), call your doctor immediately.
- Clofert (Generic Clomid) may cause blurred vision. Do not drive a
car or operate machinery, until you know how this
medication affects you.
- Clofert (Generic Clomid) increases the chance of multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets etc). Consult your doctor about the risks of multiple pregnancy.
