Why is this medication prescribed?
Generic Soma (Carisoma) Tablets are designed to relax
muscles. This will reduce pain in illnesses where muscle spasm
(involuntary tightening) is a symptom.
How should this medicine be used?
The tablets should be swallowed with a
small amount of water. The normal dose is one 350mg tablet to be
taken three times a day. Suitable times would be one tablet when you
wake up in the morning, about 3 O'clock in the afternoon and at
bedtime. Elderly patients may be prescribed lower doses.
Generic Soma (Carisoma) Tablets are not suitable for children.
If
you forget to take a tablet wait until the next dose is due and take
one tablet then.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Although side effects from Generic Soma (Carisoma) (carisoprodol) are not common, they
may occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go
away:
- fast heartbeat
- vomiting
- skin rash
- upset stomach
- drowsiness
- feeling dizzy
- headache
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your
doctor immediately:
- difficulty breathing
- fever
- weakness
- burning in the eyes
What special precautions should I follow?
- tell your doctor if you are allergic to carisoprodol,
meprobamate (Miltown, Neuramate, Equanil, Meprospan).
- tell your doctor about all kind of medications you are taking, especially medications for allergies, coughs, or
colds.
- tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver or kidney disease.
- tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are
breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Generic Soma (Carisoma)(carisoprodol), call your
doctor.
- lcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug.
- this drug can make you drowsy. Do not drive a car
until you know how Generic Soma (Carisoma)(carisoprodol) affects you.
