Why is this medication prescribed?
Aceten (Generic Capoten) is used to treat high blood pressure and heart
failure. It decreases certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood
can flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.
How should this medicine be used?
Aceten (Generic Capoten) should be taken one hour before or 2 hours after food.
Do not take more or less than prescribed by your doctor.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Tell your doctor if any of these side effects are severe or do not go away:
- feeling dizzy
- decreased ability to taste
- sore throat
- excessive tiredness
- fever
- mouth sores
- unusual bruising
- lightheadedness
- fast heartbeat
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your
doctor immediately:
- chest pain
- a skin rash
- swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue,or lower legs
- difficulty breathing or swallowing
- fainting
What special precautions should I follow?
Before taking Aceten (Generic Capoten),
- Tell your doctor t if you are allergic to Aceten (Generic Capoten) or any
other drugs.
- Tell your doctor
medications you are taking, especially: lithium
(Eskalith, Lithobid), diuretics ('water pills'), high blood pressure medications , and potassium
supplements.
- Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver, kidney, heart disease or
diabetes.
